Edge Of A Knife

from The Endgame by Dominic Carlton Jones

/

lyrics

Man walks around in the rage of the night
Too many people on the streets begging for change
Mick walks slick in his retro Fred Perry garb yet kicks away baskets while Julia does her laundry

I feel the rains falling
It’s destitute
I hear my love calling
Her need acute

Society society oh where are We now?
Isolated individuals
Obsessive power packs
Walking down Bury market with eyes that do not connect
Or the Blackley teens who hate the Poles

I see your love stalling
You’ve taken root
You bait with fight and brawling
I’ll take the loot

Gonna jump right out of this frame
Define.Project and end all your games

There are Whorls of Manchester circling out from my centre
What it means this this physical place
Who can say
But her melodies and rain drenched skin will be my tender armoury for the next Incarnation

As golden sunlight pours over red brick facade
Her soul grows larger in her chest
Her voice courses rougher through the grit and coarse Gravel
Washing away memories of black smoke and charred dreams

I feel the rains falling
It’s destitute
I hear my love calling
Her need acute

Gonna jump right out of this frame
Define, project and end all my games
